question for my local flist

I am shopping around for a new hair place. I had been going to a salon up in Marblehead (which I will go back to if I really can't find another option), but it would be great to have a place closer to me. Ideally it would be not super expensive and also be willing to play with unusual colors if I decide I want to finally get creative with my hair.

Anyone have any recs for me? Places that friends have gone to and liked?

You might try HC Studios in Brookline Village. They're not shockingly expensive, (regular haircut usually runs less than $100) they listen carefully to what you have to say regarding your hair and make knowledgeable suggestions, and neither myself nor any friends I've recced it to over the years have been disappointed. Here's the website: http://www.hcstudioinc.com/

Good luck finding a good place for you.

I had a good experience with Judy Jetson's in Porter Square. I think my haircut was $40 or something? And they're all super fun and nice people, and they do a great job with alternative hairstyles and the like.

Seconding Judy Jetson's. They're AMAZING.

All of those things sound good, especially the $40 part. I will definitely look into them. I just need somewhere to give me a solid cut before I commit to color anyway. xD

Wasn't that fond of Judy Jetson's, but I do recommend Diane at Richard Joseph's on Newbury--not Newbury prices and she is amazing--been with her for seven years.

Not fond, how? /curious.

I will definitely look into your place though!

sorry for the late response. It may have changed, but I was a walk-in, and I think I had the owner and she just seemed abrupt, felt she wanted to give me a standard haircut instead of listening to me.

Diane and I have such a great relationship now that I go in and say--thinking, something short but near the ear and she'll tell me if things won't look quite right with my hair texture, etc. She also really takes the time both when it's wet and after it's dry to make sure that every hair is cut properly so it grows out well.
