hawaii five-0 finale
I have a lot of feelings right now. (thoughts and spoilers under cut)
My very basic reaction to this episode (while watching) was anger. Now that I've had time to calm down a bit, I think I am less angry and perhaps more disappointed. But like, not "omg I hate this show" disappointment?
...IT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE. I am just unsettled.
I think that part of it is the fact that Hawaii Five-0 is more about the characters than the plot for me. The character interactions, the family... that's what I really love about the show. This episode took all that, shook it up in a big and unhappy way... and now is going to leave me hanging until the fall.
Steve was really working the crazy eyes this episode and I just wanted to shake everyone else for not stopping him. But then everyone was also busy, so there WAS no one and argh! And the whole Danny + Rachel thing. I am so torn. I honestly like Rachel's character, and I loved her friendship with Danny. The little family that works together for the good of Gracie (who is adorable). And obviously the show was building up the tension there. But suddenly there is a baby?! And apparently lots of cheating??? How long was it going on? I have a lot of personal issues with cheating, so I just.. *hands*
To be honest, part of me wants this whole thing with Rachel (the leaving the island/pregnancy, obvs nothing will change the fact that her and danny have feelings and yes emotions are tricky, i get that) to be part of Wo Fat's plan to break down 5-0. Partway through the episode I was just like, oic he's trying to break them up. Without them working as a unit, they can't get him down. They really are a team (despite Steve's inability to TELL THEM THINGS JFC WHY ARE YOU INSANE) and they work best as that team.
So basically, next season needs to go like this: Chin is back with HPD to work from the inside. Danny will help, because he promised Steve. Jenna will have to work with Danny (using all her contacts, which appear to be neverending). They will get Steve out somehow and then it will all be okay again. Also, Rachel will come back to the island with Gracie so that Danny doesn't need to choose.
...Nope, I still have feelings. I think I am going to rewatch tomorrow, try not to cry (again) and see if that helps me.
