zydrate comes in a little glass vial
Sometimes my family is a mess. And sometimes we discuss Disney sequels over dinner. Tonight's conversation was highlighted by my father asking why Ariel's daughter (in Little Mermaid 2) didn't go back to the ocean and find herself a sugar-daddy. I'm sure it made sense to him.. but I don't even know. lulz.
I watched Repo! The Genetic Opera last night. I'd intended to watch about half an hour of it and then go to bed. Somewhere along the way I got sucked in and suddenly an hour had passed of the 1.5 hour movie. So I just finished it. It made me cry pretty bad.
So I'd heard one of two things from everyone I know who'd seen it. Either they just plain didn't like it.. or they thought it was brilliant. Which basically led me to believe that either I would like it.. or fail to be drawn in and not like it. Turns out.. I liked it. Which was something of a surprise because of all the plain gore and such that was present. I normally stay away from that sort of movie.
I honestly think that part of the reason I liked it so much was for the atmosphere it created. Especially with the costuming/lighting/set choices made. In particular, Shilo's whole persona was such a sharp contrast to the state of everything else happening... from her actions to her wardrobe. She had a frail sort of glow around her pretty much the whole movie that only enhanced it.
...I am not feeling very eloquent tonight sadly.
I appear to be quite enamored with the soundtrack now though. Anthony Head has a pretty good sinigng voice.. something I should have known given the musical Buffy ep.. but I'd never actually seen it so I didn't. Actually.. in general his acting helped complete the movie for me. Given the nature of it the plot, the movie felt a little disjointed at times. Which took a little getting used to, but I guess that was part of the point too.
ARGH THE THINKING IS HARD TONIGHT.
tl;dr: I didn't expect to like it so much.. but I really like Repo. (And I just realized how similar that sentence is to that one song that made me cry and T_T)
