ARGH RUFFLES

Things continue to go well. Tonight there was a break-through as she didn't come downstairs to call her parents in tears. We spent time watching some Olympics DVD that she has and being silly.

While she was in karate, I walked in circles around a tiny Jo-Anne's in search of cosplay inspiration. For those who don't know, I will be cosplaying Chidori from Persona 3 at Anime Boston. (http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=scvuk9&s=3) The only thing is.. I'm having.. issues. And generally being panicked at the thought of millions of ruffles. So I wandered around trying to look at fabric and have added more to my list of problems.

1- The stockings. They have a light grey and white harlequin pattern. Problem being that this style and color combination doesn't exist. My only thought is that somehow I need to take some opaque stockings and somehow dye/paint the pattern. But it can't be too dark. Normally I would just say screw it and use plain white.. but I want to do this right.

2- There are millions of ruffles on this thing. On the choker... on the headdress.. on the clothing itself! So I'm faced with the possibility of making millions of these. When I went to the Jo-Ann's there was pre-ruffled strips.. but they were too wide for it. Maybe I can find thinner stuff at the bigger store.

3- Fabric choice? I don't want to use something cheap. But I don't think that twill will work because it's pretty stiff. The skirt at least looks like it's pretty flowy. Broadcloth comes the closest to the fluidity I suppose.. but then there's the issue of colors. That light (very light!) grey in the bodice pattern doesn't exist. Can I bleach (diluted solution!) like a yard of medium grey and get something similar? Not to mention the issue of sewing together all those diamonds...

The good things:

1- I already found the shoes on the Ling Lam ebay shop. It was the first place I looked. Added bonus being that I will also gain a pair of white shoes for my future loli outfits!

2- Ribbon should be easy to find, I just need to make sure it's not satin or it'll reflect something awful.

3- I already found a wig to use that will require no more styling that trimming the bangs.

4- I'm suuuuper excited about making the outfit which means I'll have more motivation.

But... RUFFLES ARGH.

And now I should go to bed.
