two things.

A quote:
We’re all hauntings waiting to happen, Shaun. The sooner you realize that, the sooner you’ll get past wondering when our normal lives will be starting up again

(from Deadline by Mira Grant. I am almost done and I had to stop on that line and contemplate on the bus)

And a rec:
If you read x-men first class fic, you should read this.

The Weight of Water by pprfaith.

It is OT3 movie AU with mind-bonding and love and feelings and Charles using his power in terrifying ways and everyone being broken but fixing it by having each other AND OH MY GOD I HAVE SO MANY FEELINGS THAT I JUST GO INCOHERENT WHEN I TRY TO EXPLAIN. JUST READ IT.

META!FIC IS THE BEST THING IN THE WORLD.

Seriously, I adore it. Giant love letters to fandom. <3 The last time I fell in love with it, it was over Pendragon/Merlin. This time, Sherlock fandom has given me something equally amazing.

The prompt: Sherlock is a well-known fanartist whose online antics always land him on fandom_wank. John's a beloved BNF fanfiction author. They meet at a convention; geeky love ensues.

What ended up coming out of this was a long fic about fandom, wank, and community. There are actual journals made for all the characters. [livejournal.com profile] holmeschat is a real thing now. There are twitter accounts, devArt accounts, and a TVTropes page.

EVERYTHING IS BEAUTIFUL.

Anyway, here are the links to all the parts of the fic on the kinkmeme. Definitely read through all the comments for more fun things. I have plans to go poke through all the associated journals tomorrow.

not!fic codas: arthur in heels and the Warehouse

If you are just joining me, you will want to start in THIS POST.

This post contains the two codas that @Manderkat wrote in chat tonight.
It is Arthur/Eames and references 4 fandoms (or more?).

It started with:
coulditbeJenG: oh there also has to be a coda where arthur wears heels. js
Manderkat:  and Eames plays with his shield

When Arthur finally shows Eames his JLO Room, it's after a long process of panic attacks, late night gun cleaning sessions and a truly ridiculous amount of sex )

the moral of the story here is the Manderkat needs to write more fic (or not!fic), Y/Y?

inception not!fic: arthur is obsessed with JLo

All of the genius that is in this entry is NOT BY ME. It is by the awesome @Manderkat who graciously has allowed me to post this

Basically, we all went into a google doc chat to rewatch the most recent episode of Doctor Who as a group (for flailing purposes) and instead... we spent 4 hours watching the most amazing not!fic in the world.

It all starts with Jennifer Lopez and resulted in some new headcanon for me.
In short, Arthur is secretly obsessed with JLo and Eames is a giant comic book/sci-fi nerd.

Warnings include: Ryan Seacrest, glitter, American Idol fans and laminating machines of mysterious origin.

Arthur saw Selena at a very delicate point in his adolescence. It had an impact )

There are also 2 codas, that are posted HERE

why oh why

So I marathon'ed the first six episodes of the new Hawaii Five-0 tonight..... I predict that I'll be through the other 13 episodes by the end of next week. I always say, y'know what, I'm not gonna let myself get drawn into another fandom. And yet here I am.

If anyone is keeping track, I currently read in: Merlin, Sherlock (BBC, 2009 and book-canon), Inception, Glamdom, and with the occasional HP, Glee, Trek, FMA, bandom thrown in when it's rec'ed to me. And now H50.... although I have no idea where to even start so maybe I will try to resist. /ramble.

ANYWAY. New show. yay. I have also resolved to start watching more anime again. I watched the Black Rock Shooter OVA the other day and suddenly remembered again that anime is awesome!

Today was not a good day. Might ponder a bit in a locked entry because i have a lot of feelings that maybe shouldn't just be.. out there. I have my days. Today was not one of those days. *shrug*

Last night I stayed up FAR too late reading this epic length FMA fanfic. It was very action-packed with lots of sneaking around and general badass antics. We're talking... 4am and the birds were waking up sort of late. xD Je suis LOSER.

Then of course it was so warm and I slept at a funny angle so my neck was angry with me when I woke up.. at 1pm.

Today I went prom dress shopping with my little sister. We'd tried before and it had only resulted in failure. Today we went out to Buckland Hills and it turns out that Sears is good for more that washing machines and vacuum cleaners! I am relieved because now I don't need to try and convince her that modifying my old prom dress is a good idea.

[livejournal.com profile] kick_flaw posted this
and I am wondering how I did not know about it. I went through a big... supernatural? out-there? crazy things? phase in high school where I just ate up anything similar to that sort of monument. I would love to go see it in person someday. The inscriptions sound really creepy and I want to see how that sunbeam showing what day of the year it is thing work. Pity I'm not going south for school or it would be easier.

And now to end this, a meme. One that I LOVE the idea of. An animation mene!

omg i love animated movies. i am a child )

oh internets

While browsing f!s today, I discovered something.

Minesweeper fanfiction exists. Not only in the form of someone playing the game.. but there is a Bomb/Smiley fic on ff.net... where Minesweeper has its own section. I am amused.
http://www.fanfiction.net/game/Minesweeper/

I guess rule 34 always wins?

I have decided to once again do what I tried to do.. two years ago (?).. in terms of setting a goal of anime I would like to watch this year. The fact stands that I have a massive backlog of things I would dearly like to watch and I just need to make the time to watch a bit here and there. I'm not sure what to aim for though. I already will be counting the 5 anime club series towards that list... so I suppose maybe saying 10 on top of that is a fair number.

So far lined up I have:
1. Speed Grapher
2. Soul Eater
3. Lucky Star
4. Black Cat
5. Jigoku Shoujo Futakomori
6. Nodame Cantabile - Paris

And I still need to get Vampire Knight, Hayate and Princess Tutu.

*shrug* I can try again at least. This time the series I want to watch are all not too long (like that time I tried Kenshin).

Gonna try to up my reading as well. Finished reading Ender in Exile over vacation (it was so awesome!) and I bought Xenocide yesterday to re-read. I figure maybe now that I'm not in middle school, it might make more sense to me. I also am a good way into House of Leaves and a Terry Brooks novel. (lol I start reading again and go right back to my old ways of starting like 3 books at once).

So I guess those are 2 of my resolutions for 2009. Anything else can be written down for me to ponder over.

edit: Hah. After I posted this, I got a Coho AIM bot connection (as I normally do). The message sent was "Stop trying to do the impossible!" and I totally wanted to send back some Gurren Lagann lyrics.

In other news, my brother is pitching a fit because my parents told him he isn't allowed to leave on a road trip tomorrow with his friends to take one of them back to school in Virginia. *eyeroll*

fic

I was challenged to a 15 min fic writing session. The word was 'transition'.

This is what I ended up with. I warn you beforehand that it's really weird....
