YAY LOTS OF QUESTIONS ABOUT BOOKS. Stolen from

1. Favorite childhood book?
Millions of Cats!! I read it aloud in class in first grade
2. What are you reading right now?
Currently focused on A Letter of Mary by Laurie R King. I'm also partway through Johnny Weir's book.
3. What books do you have on request at the library?
I don't even have a library card right now.... My CT one expired and I never finished my application for the one here in Lynn.
4. Bad book habit?
Page-folding! Also I have a bad habit of leaving books upside-down.
5. What do you currently have checked out at the library?
Despite not having a library card, I *DO* have books from the Northeastern Library. Right now it's two books on R programming and Mists of Avalon.
6. Do you have an e-reader?
Nope. The Nook is calling to me though....
7. Do you prefer to read one book at a time, or several at once?
I normally have a few books going at once, but every so often I will find one book/series that consumes my being. (This is currently happening with the Mary Russell series).
8. Have your reading habits changed since starting a blog?
Not really.
9. Least favorite book you read this year (so far?)
(Including 2010) Probably...um... funny story I don't remember the title of it actually. Obviously it wasn't very memorable.
10. Favorite book you've read this year?
(Including 2010) HUNGER GAMES, the whole series. Also, the Mary Russell books. :)
11. How often do you read out of your comfort zone?
I read whatever is interesting, whether it is in my ~zone or not. I like books.
12. What is your reading comfort zone?
I eat my way through fantasy/sci-fi genre, with the occasional cyberpunk. But if it's interesting, I will read it!
13. Can you read on the bus?
Bus, plane, car, train.. whatever.
14. Favorite place to read?
Curled up on my bed with a blanket and a stuffed animal.
15. What is your policy on book lending?
Only if I know I will get them back. I lent one of my Harry Potter books out once and never got it back. :( It had a very pretty bookplate in it and everything.
16. Do you ever dog-ear books?
Always. I am terrible about keeping track of bookmarks. They tend to fall out because I am always shoving my books into bags and leaving them lying around. I have tried those magnetic book clips, but then I lost them all. /tl;dr
17. Do you ever write in the margins of your books?
The only book I have EVER done this with is my poor falling-apart copy of Speaker for the Dead
18. Not even with text books?
Oh, well that's different, Mr. Quiz. I write in those all the time.
19. What is your favorite language to read in?
English. I can read in Spanish just fine, but it's harder for me to get ~lost in it.

I want to be unable to put the book down, and when I finish it, I want to feel disoriented, as if I've been yanked back from another world I hadn't realized I was in. I want the characters to feel real. I want to be able to connect with them, I want them to frustrate me, I want to cheer for them and weep with them and not know everything about them, so I don't know what they'll do next.
21. What will inspire you to recommend a book?
If I loved it? I dunno, I'm never really in a position to recommend books... I always assume that no one likes the things I do. xD

Fantasy/sci-fi.

Historical fiction

Um... I don't have one? Does Johnny Weir's book count? I can't remember the last time I read a biography to be honest.

Nope! (I am beyond help anyway ;) )

I don't tend to eat while I read. Most of the time I get so lost in my reading that I don't think about it.

I wouldn't say that hype has ever ruined a reading experience....
30. How often do you agree with critics about a book?
I don't pay attention to reviews.
31. How do you feel about giving bad/negative reviews?
I rarely review, but if a book REALLY bothers me, I won't hesitate to tell someone who wants to know my opinion.
32. If you could read in a foreign language, which language would you choose?
Japanese, so I could read Haruki Murakami's books in their original language.
33. Most intimidating book you’ve ever read?
hmm..... House of Leaves perhaps. Mostly because of the formatting though, not because of the contents. I SUCK AT REMEMBERING THINGSSS

I kinda want to read Lolita but then I never get around to it.

Don't read a lot of poetry. GOD I AM SO UNCULTURED.

When I still had a library card, I would normally have 4-5 books out at once. Now I just buy things so I can hoard them.

40. Books I’m most likely to bring on vacation?
Whatever I happen to be in the middle of at the time. Plus 3-4 others. In the summer we tend to go to beaches and I love nothing more than reading on the beach, but I read fast. Also, I am kinda ADD about books if I'm not totally immersed in one, so I need options.
41. The longest I’ve gone without reading.
Reading in general, never? If you're talking strictly for fun... a few weeks maybe?
42. Name a book that you could/would not finish.
That one that I couldn't remember earlier. :|| curse my memory.
43. What distracts you easily when you’re reading?
If there is a television on in the room, it will distract me. If I am legit reading, I will make sure I am away from my laptop so that the internet can't distract me.
44. Favorite film adaptation of a novel?
Lord of the Rings!!!!
45. Most disappointing film adaptation?
I actually really hated the adaptation of The Golden Compass.
46. The most money I’ve ever spent in the bookstore at one time?
We're not discussing this right now.

I am so bad at skimming ahead in books. I tend to skip to random pages and skim.... I always end up spoiling myself and being annoyed. xD
48. What would cause you to stop reading a book half-way through?
If it's really REALLY not holding my attention. It takes a lot for that to happen.

I like to group by author. And series have to stay together and in order.

IDK. Twilight made me pretty angry because it was so awful.

Crime and Punishment. We had to read it in 12th grade English class and I loved it. And then I re-wrote it as a modern AU for a project. (lol what)

1984. I tried to hard to like it after everyone told me it was amazing and just... I couldn't.

Fanfiction. Lots of it. Also manga.
