i (dont) love ny

This weekend was a strange mix of doing nothing and doing far too much at the same time. I felt so cruddy on Friday that I slept my evening away and then proceeded to sleep away my Saturday morning. It was nice, I won't lie. Also... I felt better by the end of it.

Sunday found me behind the wheel of my car... driving into the heart of New York City. Oh it was... not crazy-fun times.

My grandmother has been visiting since she's moving. She leaves in exactly a week and she wanted to go down to New York to spend some time with my cousin who is living there now. So she thought it would be a great idea for my sister and I go so we could all spend the day. We got there at 1pm. The trip there wasn't bad because we went a route that wasn't going to force me to take the parkway from the Bronx over the Manhattan where my cousin lives. But of course all bets were off once I got off the actual parkway and headed into the city proper. And can I just say... double-parking in narrow streets with taxis zooming everywhere and... @___@ I'm just surprised I didn't die on the way. Not to mention that she doesn't live in the best of areas.

And then came the kicker. We're all hungry and I'm majorly stressed from the drive. We were expecting food when we got there. Nope... she'd just gotten up and showered when we showed up. So my grandmother decides it would be an AWESOME IDEA if we went to the restaurant that Cate's husband works at. Now.. this would be cool. Except for the part where I had to drive from upper Manhattan down to the middle of Soho. Ugh. I never want to do it again.

The food was nice. Except for the part where they sat us at the bar... Us including my 15 year old sister. Good planning management people. At least she looks older than she really is...

And then I drove back to CT.

In short.... New York sucks.

why drive in manhattan? You're just asking for trouble.
