yeah, you taste like sugar

New York this weekend was fabulous. On Saturday we found the One Direction VMAs billboard in Time Square. Then I got Bagel Bites and we watched Swan Princess and 8 episodes of Teen Wolf. Then Sunday was boozy-brunch where I drank lots of mimosas (but not TOO many cuz I had to get on a bus back to Boston) and caught up with so many people I love. Our waiter was a saint and there was a point where we hijacked the speakers in the room where they put us to play hits like Call Me Maybe and some Spice Girls classics.

I have to say though, that I might need to switch my bus provider. The Megabus departure spot is in a seriously inconvenient place now! It used to be right by Penn but now it's over by the Javits center and that is not cool.

Still no word on TA assignments, although I have heard rumors that SOME people already know... so I am hoping we get them tomorrow. I REALLY don't want to have to go visit the guy in charge of these things.

In other news, Matchbox Twenty has a new full length album coming out next week and the whole thing is currently streaming free on itunes. I am already desperately in love with three of the songs (Parade, English Town and Like Sugar). You should all give it a listen. :D

itunes meme again

I feel like garbage but I also ended up sleeping for like 3 hours this evening when I got home.. so now I can't sleep.

So here is yet another meme, this time borrowed from [ profile] fresica
music )

Right, time to try and make myself sleep even though it feels like someone is repeatedly stabbing me in the abdomen.

meme! of course :)

Step 1: Put your iTunes or equivalent on random.
Step 2: Post the first line from the first 40 songs that play, no matter how embarrassing.
Step 3: Bold or Strike out the songs when someone guesses correctly.
Step 4: Looking them up on Google or any other search engine is CHEATING.
I will give clues if you ask for them.

I've gone ahead and skipped any songs that are in Japanese. xD Spanish is still fair game though.

can we pretend that airplanes in the night sky are like shooting stars

13) A cover song you think is on par with the original

This was a BRILLIANT scene in Glee. Mercedes and Santana are amazing on this song together. Just as good as the original. *happy sigh*

14) A song that was covered, which you enjoy, but you prefer the original more

More Glee. :) I enjoy the Glee version because you have that mix of male and female voice(and the American Idol Season 8 tour version is A+ too).. but nothing beats the original.

I've been having a rough couple weeks. Maybe I'll vent about it later.... if I feel like it.

11) A song from Broadway

<33 This is probably my favorite song from Rent.

12) A cover song you think is better than the original

Ok so MAYBE I'm biased. But still... This is my favorite Kris song from AI8 and he gave the song a totally different feel from the original song.

Someday I will make a real entry, but for now.. more meme. (lol *watches everyone unfriend me for being lame*)

7) A music video that's hilarious

Guys. No really, guys. This video kills me. The beginning is really quiet, but then it gets louder. And then they're dancing on the wing of a plane. And I just can't even. ALSO THE RANDOM ANIMATION IS A+

8) A TV Theme

This opening like.. makes me feel things in my heart. I don't know why, but everytime I hear it I get really excited and emotional. lol I am weird.

9) A song from a movie soundtrack

I love this movie and I love this song. <3

10) A song from the internet

This totally counts as being from the internet. My fave song from Dr. Horrible <3

Continuing with the music meme!

days 1-4 )

5) A music video that's awesome, but for a song you don't really care for
It won't let me embed, but the video is Savin' Me by Nickelback. I'm not really a Nickelback fan, but I like the concept of the video with the person who basically can see how long people have left to live.

6) A music video that's trippy

idk how ~trippy this video is. what I can say is that's it's weird.

music is my boyfriend

Saw this music meme that [ profile] magicalmartha is doing for the month of May, so I thought I would try to catch up. Hopefully I will stick to daily posting, but who knows if it will really work. xD Also, the decade songs.. I might skip those.. because I suck. And you will probably all judge me.

Gonna do May 1-4 right now.

1) A song you really like

I could have cheated and picked an Adam song, but this song (and series) is basically all the held me together for a couple months so I need to start with it. <3

2) Your least favorite song from your favorite band

Ok I cheated cuz she isn't a ~band. But I don't really have a favorite artist and I ALWAYS skip this song on my Gaga playlist.

3) A song you enjoy from a band you otherwise can't stand

I don't really have anything *against* Boys Like Girls. They're just not really my ~thing... except apparently this song.

4) A music video that's awesome

Whenever I want to watch a music vid... I always go back to this one. I love the song and the video is just so visually stunning.

here i go, this is my confessional. a lost cause, nobody can save my soul

I am so bored. I should be reading a paper. And instead I am like, *woe* because twitter is down.

So I shall talk about what I have been up to!

From the 10th to the 14th I was in North Carolina for my first conference! To start off, it is a pain in the ass to fly with a freaking poster tube. It's always falling on things and not fitting in overhead compartments and just ugh. I also almost died trying to get the damn thing printed on Tuesday. Staples was an ass to me about getting it done and finally I had to leave it at a 24 hour Kinko's and pick it up at like 6am on Wednesday before my flight south. I also had a minor breakdown Tuesday over what to wear because I had no idea how formal/fancy this was going to be.

I should have known better. It was an ECOLOGY meeting. Half the people there didn't even bother looking different than like... jeans and hoodies. There were definitely some girls dressed up (and looking quite fashionable, which I was jealous of), but the people I was with were all like "omg what is she wearing?!". Sigh.

Anyway, the flight down went without a hitch. We checked into the hotel, went to lunch and then went to register and go to the first social. First of all, omg so many people. I am AWFUL in social situations, I am such a wallflower. So this was like the stuff of nightmares. Luckily I found a few people I knew and talked with them for the night.

Thursday and Friday were the talks and poster sessions. Let's not talk about how many talks I half dozed through..... Thursday was kinda awkward for me, but Friday went much better. I had my poster that night and I definitely got some good ideas from the people who came to talk to me. Now that it's warmer, I have a lot of ideas for what I wanna do to develop this method better. :D

Friday I also went out to dinner with my advisor and a bunch of other people. SUSHI OMG. It also produced my favorite moment of the entire weekend: chatting with my advisor about the giant robot anime franchise in Japan while everyone else at our table just stared at us. I shit you not, it was amazing.

Saturday there were more talks and then there was a banquet on a riverboat. It was so much fun with good food and dancing. Then we went out to this bar where they had a DJ. My advisor was there. Ladies and Gentlemen, I danced like a fool in front of my advisor to Tik Tok. We're talking like.. singing along and miming some of the lyrics and jumping around. How do I live with myself? lmao.

Anyway, Sunday rolled around and it was the TRAVEL DAY FROM HELL. Here's how it went down. There were storms up here in New England. I was due to leave on a noon flight with 2 other people. We all had connections to catch at LaGuardia, mine was at 4, theirs' was at 2. Our plane left NC 1.5 hours late, so they missed their flights. When we got to NY, it was a mess because so many flights were delayed and apparently half the world was trying to get to Boston after missing connections. When we got there, the people in our group who had left on an "11am" flight (it left 2 hours late) were still there on standby lists. We got in at 3:50pm, but my 4pm flight was delayed half an hour. Some of the earlier group got put into my plane and we left at like 5. The 2 people I was with for the first flight were put on a 5pm flight (not mine). We got into the air and it was super windy with turbulence like whoa. Keep in mind that this is a 40 minute flight. We got to Boston and the lights were out on the runway... so we circled in the air, waiting. By not the plane is dead silent because there is so much turbulence and we're just... waiting. And waiting.... There was too much wind to land on the backup runway. After about 40 minutes of circling in the air and tense silence, the pilot says that we are going to PROVIDENCE, RHODE ISLAND. Folks, this is definitely not Boston. WHICH IS WHERE I WANTED TO BE. We landed in RI at 7:30 pm. From there, we waited an hour and a half for a bus that the airline got us... and we drove to Boston. I got home at 11pm. And I wanted to die. Ironically enough, the 2 on that 5pm flight were landed in Hartford, CT. Also, about half the flight did not have their luggage when we landed, so there was a lot of yelling.

I have decided that the world just wants me to visit every airport possible. So far I have Logan, Bradley, LaGuardia, JFK, Providence, Philly, Denver, Houston, LAX, Charlotte, Wilmington. Gotta catch em all!

On other notes. Lady Gaga is coming to Boston on July 1. Tickets go on sale Monday. Decent tix are $185. I promised my sister we could go. Now I am not sure I will be able to swing the cost even for poor seats. I'm really disappointed honestly. I will talk to her this weekend about maybe getting some sub-par seats? :| I'm not asking like front row here or anything. :(

Also, there are hints that a summer tour WILL happen for Adam. So I'm trying to balance that thought with these Gaga tix. Because I will literally sell things I currently own in order to get amazing seats for Adam. And then part of me is like, but what if he opens for Gaga... ARGHHHH This is hard guys. WHAT DO I DO.

And finally, I AM GOING TO SEE STEPHANE SKATE IN THIN ICE AT FOXWOODS ON FRIDAY NIGHT. I am sooooo excited omg you don't even know.

And I will shut up now. This is too long. I will ramble about cosplay and Anime Boston tomorrow.

there's never any rain.. when you want it.

I feel like all I ever do is spam various social networking sites with music/videos/links. I think my real life is too exhausting to bother with. Because if I start typing out everything, I start getting panicky and feeling like I'm a bad student. B'aww...

Anyway, music! (lol)
I was curious after seeing all those Halloween pics of Adam with Ferras and Katy Perry... because I realized that I'd never heard any of Ferras' music. Apparently one of his songs was used as the ending song on AI? But I didn't watch, so idk. So I previewed on iTunes and it was like, omg what? WHAT? *insta-buy*

I am... I dunno. *_* I love this though. I can't believe it took me this long to investigate!!!!

Writer's Block: Most memorable concert

[Error: unknown template qotd]

Hello topic I can ramble about forever. I've been to... 6 concerts in my life on my own. 3 of them were the American Idol concert. I'm not sure what that says about me. Ozzfest when SOAD and Disturbed were there with Jacob. Panic at the Disco and Paramore with Justin. The Idols alone, alone.. and with people from the internet. (lulz don't follow my example kids). All were special in their own way really. Ozzfest I got to see 2 bands I really really enjoy and probably will never see again live. Panic was just fun even if they are *totally* my scene. Paramore was the first concert I ever attempted to take lots of pictures at a concert and it was fun bouncing around. And then. you know my Idol experiences recently. Perhaps the best part of those was meeting so many awesome people and for once... not being so closed away from social experiences that I let myself meet them. I think personally that's my biggest achievement. I don't talk to people that easily.

Hey.. look at me not really answering the question! I think for now... front row at the final show of Idol was the most magical though. I am ruined for all other concerts really. Except maybe for when I pay a million dollars for good Adam tickets and my brain explodes from the sheer amounts of awesome and sex on stage. *cough*

Anyway. 11:20pm. Totally just rolled out of bed like 20 min ago. I have a lot of homework to do today, but I think I will procrastinate and go shopping for food, a calculator and a venti pumpkin spice latte. Priorities. I has them.

Also... Daughtry singing Poker Face.. acoustic?! My mind is blown.

the saga continues

*clings to the library again* And this time I'm on my laptop and can actually save things. Oh sweet joy.

Never got a call back from the landlord last night about the plumber. Talked to him this morning, apparently the guy is going to come today? And I'm like, blah I'm gonna be in the city all day. Whatevs. So long as the damn thing gets fixed and we can move on with our lives.

Roommate arrived last night. Things are good. Although she was definitely a little, "wha?" at the lack of contact between the old and new students. I honestly haven't heard anything from anyone except that I need to be at this training the next 2 days. So hopefully I can pick out the other marine bio students in that room and make some connections. Also realized last night that I have forgotten ALL of the bags I own that are not backpacks and can fit a notebook. So today I get to take a small bag and carry my notebook around. Figures. I'm thinking I need to drive home on Sat to get this stuff because I need a smaller bag and I'm going to be a mess in a few weeks if I don't have a hairbrush. lol.

In less OMG REAL LIFE news... Adam's CD was announced "officially" (well.. via his twitter) to be released Nov 24th. And aaaahhh I know where my money is going over those few weeks. Kris and Star Trek the 17th... Adam the 24th. *flails*

Hrm... my laptop is not showing me my battery bar. Does this mean it's going to suddenly yell at me then turn off while I watch helplessly? Most likely. *woe*

ps- It occurred to me as I woke up at 9am this morning that this is what sleeping in is going to feel like. And then I was sad. Normal people hours. DO NOT WANT.

the ghetto-est ice cream truck

This weekend was pretty fun. Saturday was the annual clambake at the house of a UCONN Health Center faculty member. It was the usual. Lots of booze (never ending, jesus), tons of clams/lobsters/yummy food. Except this year they got an Elvis impersonator as well. On my computer there resides a video of my father drunk-dancing. And lots of pictures. Once I get around to uploading everything onto facebook, there will be show and tell. :D I did not actually consume anything alcoholic because I am veru awkward about that stuff around my family. Not like I would gotten drunk or anything.. but I feel weird about even drinking a beer or something.

Then on Sunday I saw the most sketch ice cream truck ever. It was basically a giant brown van. You could see the coolers that contained the ice cream peeking up at the bottom of the windows. And there was just a mega-phone style speaker attached to the top. And the guy driving it looked pretty sketch too. I was just drove by and laughed. I would not want to buy ice cream from that man.

Also I went to the mall and remember that I need to buy my American Apparel hoodie asap.

Today was work. It was slow. My fave person, who should not be such, was not there. I did buy myself a sandwich though.

I am obsessed with this cover, this is awful. I haven't watched American Idol since David Cook inspired some form of rage in me. (I don't even know why.. I can't make myself like the man). But some people on my friend's list will talk about it all the time (in particular, Adam Lambert). Then I started youtubing and... this cannot end well.

For reference - cover I am liking:

Also, there is a vid of him singing "Kiss From a Rose".. which is just not fair. NOT FAIR I TELL YOU.

*cough* Anyway... carry on.
