Guys I am sick. And when I get sick, I turn into the biggest baby. *cry* The sickness can be summed up in two words: con plague.

My throat feels like it's lined with sandpaper. Oddly enough, when I sneeze, it feels better for a few seconds. I am half-tempted to order spicy wings tonight or something to try and clear my sinuses.

So yes, Anime Boston was this past weekend. It was a lot of fun. I wore lolita on Friday and Chidori cosplay on Saturday. It was kinda a bummer that I had to sample on the mornings of the con and the hour commute was sucky. Next year, I don't care that I live just north of Boston, I am getting a hotel room and not dealing with all that travel. Argh.

I bought so much freaking stuff too! 13 volumes of manga (I am not finally current with Nodame, Hayate and xxxHolic), 4 blind boxes, a Gurren Lagann Keychain, a little white Monokuro Boo, a mid-size Gloomy Bear, lots of pins to put on my AI tour bag and some art of the chibi 7 sins to put on large wall of my room and more art for my office. :D

h.naoto (the company rep, not the designer) was there promoting Hangry and Angry and I definitely went to pet the clothing at their dealer's room booth. *sigh*

I really want more naoto but I really also need to save money because I am dying after buying all these concert tickets. Gaga for my sister and I. KISS108 Concert with Kris, Adam, Kesha and Orianthi for myself. Plus Adam tour this summer, which I basically plan on going to every show in the area, plus I wanna take like a week off to go to LA, visit people... and go to the shows there. really. I'm not crazy.

more flags. more fun.

Frustration is... reading a multi-chaptered fic (like... 12+ chapters), getting to the end.. and realizing that it's not the end and that the author hasn't updated it in a year. *sigh*

Also I managed to start one of my fingers bleeding and it won't stop.

Went to Six Flags today with my cousin and sister. It was a great day for it really. Thursday, a bit overcast so it wasn't too crowded. We got there about half an hour before open and jumped right on some rides. Mind Eraser... lived up to its name for sure. I am seriously wondering how I didn't just pass out from the repeated head-bashing. I have also decided that Flashback is like... cursed for me. It had techical difficulties and got stuck went we rode it on Physics Day senior year. And today, we rode it... and then sat strapped in at the platform for like 5 minutes watching for the tech guys to get there to fix something to let us out. I was just like, that's it. Never again. It hurt my head anyway!

After all that, we managed to over-stuff ourselves and then I wandered around alone because I am not overly fond of the water park thing. It got me on the Bizzaro (previously known as Superman) an extra time.. IN THE FRONT ROW. So badass. Also rode the tower drop twice - thank you single riders line.

After the girls were done with the water rides, we wandered a bit more. Got on Bizzaro again. Went to this weird Houdini ride that wasn't really a ride... just a total MINDTRIP OMG. Then we got ice cream. In the process... the sky opened up on us.

LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT HOW ONE OF THE THINGS I AM MOST FRIGHTENED OF IS DRIVING IN A THUNDERSTORM. It was 8:10. We had finished our ice cream... lightning had been flickering for a while so it was obvious that the day was over. As we start walking to the car... HUGE COLD RAINDROPS. Everywhere. And then the thunder started. And then we were trying to walk back to my car because my sister was like "let's not take the shuttle, it's an adventure *skipskip*". Meanwhile I am freezing to death slowly and trying not to think about how I needed to drive in the now-pouring rain. I was soaked and shivering as we pulled out of the lot. I'm not entirely sure how we made it home alive. I was so busy clutching the wheel with both hands trying not to twitch that I missed a lot of that time. Definitely hydro-planed a few times. Hoping my car has a chance to dry out tomorrow before I drive it again.

Just.. awful stuff. I don't like driving because you see the lightning.. but you don't hear the thunder. Except when you DO hear it, it's more terriyfing somehow because it means it was loud enough to be heard over car noises. So I'm always torn between trying to drown it out... or to listen intently.

Anyway. I'm home now. Looks like everyone is off to Mystic tomorrow so I will have free reign to do cosplay stuff before work.

Also.. my finger is still bleeding. I think I need to go patch myself up and then sleep. I am so tired.

life is silly

I was productive today!! It's amazing. I mean, I still slept till like 1pm.. but then I did things after!

I waited at the bank for a really long time. Then waited some more at the post office to buy some stamps for some letters with checks I need to send out. Then I went to Starbucks for green tea lemonade because it is like my crack. xD

I got the fabric I need for Yui at Jo-ann's. I was gonna get this really pretty suiting, but there wasn't enough on the roll and they didn't have any more. I was sad panda and I hope the stuff I got instead won't end up being too shiny/a pain in the ass to work with. They also didn't have any black ruffle tape, but I won't need that for a bit still. I also got my wig in the mail so I doused it in hair spray. Once it dries, I get to cut it. It's a little darker than I would have liked, but I'll be able to work with it. I need to work on priming the styrofoam balls I'm using for all the embellishments too. Funfun.

Then I went to Borders where I had my weird encounter of the day. I was waiting in line to pay (omg last volume of Kitchen Princess!!) behind this large man with a pile of stuff. I was mostly thinking about how the guy at the register is the one who likes to talk to me about shoujo manga and is generally very awkward about the whole thing. (I try to avoid him..). So this large dude is like "never enough money for books". I made some vague agreement and he started telling me how his mother is always worried when he doesn't lock his car cuz someone will "steal his books". (Keep in mind, this guy was old enough to be my father). THEN!! Then he says, "So tell me. Do people of the... female persuasion like it when guys are bookworms?" I SHIT YOU NOT. There was even a pause before he said "female" and everything. I was just like, "umm... it depends on the girl". AND THEN IT WAS HIS TURN TO PAY AND I WAS LIKE, THANK YOU GOD. The awkward register guy told me that the last volume of Kitchen Princess is a bit anti-climactic, which is just NOT COOL OF HIM. And that's the story of my adventure at Borders.

After dinner I went to karoke with Rachel and Marsha and had an awesome time. I sang a song. And I really wish I could like... hear myself sing because I don't know what I sound like AT ALL and am convinced I make a fool of myself everytime I do. *sighface*

ALSO MY LAPTOP IS A PIECE OF SHIT. Earlier, everytime i hit the apostrophe the quick find box would come up. And now I can't use my arrow keys but the apostrophe works again. WTF

a dream among the sharks

Well... settled in back at home. Whatever that means since I don't have my own bed still, just the sofa bed. Nonetheless, everything is unpacked and it's back to work on Tuesday.

The most annoying thing about being gone for a week is that I have firefox set to save links in the address bar for 6 days. Normally I start typing in "community" and it'll pop up with all the lj comms I visit the most. And now I have re-build. And OF COURSE this would be what I am all "rawr!" about. xD

Went to the mall today. Looking for a cell phone for my cousin (which didn't work out btw). i think I am burnt out on shopping after our outlet day though. I got so much stuff. Including this awesome pair of converse with ladybugs and polka dots! And some cute tshirts.

I did go to the craft store though. The cosplay prep begins yet again. Gonna be awesome!

I have vacation pictures, but they need to be on my laptop first. Then I can spam them at you all.

last random note. Have been re-reading the Young Wizards series by Diane Duane. Had forgotten how much I love them. There was also been 3 new books since I last read book 5... so I have to catch up! Totally one of the first instances of me shipping anyone. Before I knew fandom existed. Fun stuff.

OMG HARRY POTTER ON TUESDAY. Totally already have my tickets. :3

Do you all want me to just buy tickets for the lot of us and then you can give me the $15 for it on the 19th? Also, Michy did you think your friend was going to be interested because I have one more space in my car. Lemme know and I can get that all bought for us asap and we can plan the drive out.

On that note, I bought fabric and stuff so be prepared to be in a car with me all dressed up for this. xD Because I am a dork who jumps on excuses to make costumes. It'll be fun. really.

Finally emailed the girl I will be working in the same lab with in the fall about emails. Sounds like there might be someone looking for a roommate so I need to email her and see if she's still looking. *crosses fingers* Otherwise, it's off to craigslist. x_x;;

I showed my sister that Star Trek vid to Britney Spears.
Her first words when it was done: Wow.. he's really good-looking.

I laughed. And then agreed.

Have decided to make something to wear at Can't Stop the Serenity. Trip to Jo-ann's on Sunday is a go for pattern and fabric. yay sewing!

So about an hour and a half ago, I thought "hey I should ramble about Star Trek on my LJ since I've been crazily reading fic for the past 2-3 days and generally absorbing the fandom". And then I thought "wait I need a Trek icon first!" Which of course means I went through every icon post in [ profile] st_reboot, saved dozens of icons, and then agonized over which 3 to upload.

Moral of the story being: I am pretty lame but thorough in my obsessions.

First and foremost: Goddamn there are a lot of good-looking people in the new movie. This is undoubtedly not news to anyone. But over an hour of icon-saving really just drove the point home.

Also, little!Spock and little!Kirk are kinda cute and I want to take them home with me. Or at least borrow them for a while.

At the very least, I'm having fun poking into the new fandom for the movie. I am woefully ignorant of the original series and will probably remain so for a while. (Not that this is stopping me from starting a torrent with the complete original series).

In my searchings I came across a couple vids for the movie that I rather liked. And while I have no doubt that people have already seen these plenty of times, I figure for the sake of my own memory, I shall link them here.

Anime Boston 2009

So Anime Boston is over for yet another year. Once again despite thinking that I just wasn't going to finish what I wanted, I made it work. And I am just so freaking happy that I got my Chidori cosplay up to "wearing in public" standard. So.. have a report and then a pile of pictures!!

Friday we arrived in Boston at about 1:30 in the afternoon. After last year, we dreaded registration and the thought of a line. In the end, it took us longer to find the damn reg room than it did to actually get our badges. We literally walked into the room, scanned our barcode papers and they handed us the badge. Robin and I were in shock. It was nice to have a lot more free-time though. Ended up going to the dealer's room to scope out the place and I majorly splurged. Three Gurren Lagann blind-boxes plus a FULL COLOR artbook full of all sorts of awesomeness. Totally worth every penny. They had so many awesome artbooks I wish I could have justified buying another. The Simon and Kamina portaits book is awesome.

Max got there with Aimee and we headed up to the room with all our stuff. Thus started the elevator fiasco. The 5th floor is only acessible from one set of elevators that are not the main ones. We tried the main ones first and ended up getting a freaking tour of the hotel because we couldn't get to 5. Finally after wandering in the executive area and finding someone to ask, we ended up climbing 2 flights of stairs (NOT FUN IN ROCKING HORSE SHOES) to get to the 5th floor. Then waited forever for an elevator to get back down later. Basically... all the elevators we tried to get on were cursed in some way... all weekend. LineCon was no more, it was CursedElevatorCon instead.

Anyway, went to the AMV contest, saw some good stuff, voted. And then we went to PF Changs and got some delicious food. Oh yea, and then I spent 2 hours in the bathroom making the finishing touches to my costume.

Saturday I got all costumed up (wigs are hard!) and it was off to roam. Watched 5cm per second and quite enjoyed it. I mean, it was very understated and sad.. but the art was so pretty. I'm glad I made a point to go watch it at least. Then there was the Sailor Moon panel which was awesome of course. They showed some truly horrific videos ( if you're interested lulzz) and then it was all fun and such. Went to the Masqurade which was kinda lame to begin with and slowly got better. The Dead Moon Circus skit made me stupidly-happy. Then it was CHeesecake Factory for dinner! I got a handful of people take my picture and I got some nice ones alone outside. One of the first times I've ever gotten good documentation of my costume! YAY

Then today I spent obscene amounts of money on manga. Also I met the most annoying dealer's room member ever. She was at the manga booth and I had a couple books in my hand. She was all like yelling in my face about free hentai with id and then was all "I'M WATCHING YOU SO DONT YOU DARE TRY AND STEAL RAWR!" and then when I tried to walk to a different shelf she was like "HEY YOU STOP" and I was just like "...I'm going over here?" I should have told her that if she didn't knock it off I would take my business elsewhere. Stupid girl. Anyway, went to Cosplay Chess. It was.. lamer than usual. Some of the fights were amusing by the kept interrupting it.

Gah... forget it. I'm gonna post some pics and then maybe I'll ramble about this some more.

Hrm... I was going to say more but as I've been writing this entry for the past hour and a half.. I think I will call it good for tonight. More thoughts later

obscene amount of cake

The title to this entry used to be "I need a cooking/food icon". And then I remembered this one and the problem was solved! <3

I spent much more time than usual in the kitchen today. The results are four loaves of cinnamon bread and a meatloaf. The meatloaf was my mom's fault as we had this ground beef that needed to be used and I guess she didn't want to make pasta sauce with it. So.. I poked the side of the bread crumb container, looked up some recipes online.. and frankensteined it into some form of food. It was pretty good and even my dad ate it despite not really liking meatloaf. (Although maybe it was out of pity.. who knows). And now we will be eating cinnamon bread for the next week and a half.

My day of "get lots of cosplay done" was hindered by my mom calling me in the afternoon. I ended up spending 2 hours at the mall looking for a purse for my little sister. She is going to junior prom next Saturday. I ended up buying a lot of stuff at Michael's that will make this whole project a lot easier though. Also my brain did that thing where it buys things and I ended up with SPN season 1 from Target, on sale for $19. My brain went "hey that's normally $45 and now it's $19 and that torrent is going really slowly anyways".. and then I was walking out with it. lulz. I also did brush out and arrange my Chidori wig so it's a start.

There.. was something else I was gonna say here, but now I've gone and forgotten. So instead I will go back to my sewing.

"Colombians are cool. They make cocaine!"

My dad says things sometimes that make me want to facepalm. Then I do. At least sometimes it makes for amusing livejournal subject lines?

I worked today from 9am to 4:30pm. It was... not happyfuntimes. Go figure right? I have the day off tomorrow though (technically today.. oops). I'm going to use it for cosplay and making meatlof/baking.

On a very similar note WHY IS ANIME BOSTON ONLY 2 WEEKS AWAY?! More like a week and half. @_@;; The sewing frenzy is well underway but I'm going to just slowly freak out more and more until we get there. Tomorrow is also "brush out wig and drench in hairspray so I can make the mods to it". Also making my Chidori wig a bit neater as it's been in storage for a while now. =S

I also have a PRIORITY ONE for Connecticon. Making Yui's outfit from the ending of K-on. RayRay is making Mio's and maybe we can con a couple more people to finish the group. xD Either way, I am psyched. Already know where to get the stockings, so after AB I need to find a wig and some patterns. YAY! I am excited.

On a related note, watched ep 6 of K-on! tonight. Yes, it was awesome. Yes, it is full of fluffy moe. But y'know what.. with FMA being my other current series.. I need something fluffy and cute.

I need to DL Sayonara Zetsubou-sensei. I bought volume 1 of the manga and it was.. interesting. The art style is really cool though (all black and white with no shading, etc) so I want to see how it worked in the anime.

OH OH OH! Supernatural is torrenting fine now. I grabbed a link that consisted of mostly seeds from a private tracker.. so it was going soooo slowwww. But I fixed that now, so hopefully it will be done soon. But I'm not allowed to sit and watch it forever until after the convention!

I looove music anime!

Watched the 5 episodes of K-on that I downloaded last night. It did that thing.. where I started watching.. and I couldn't stop. And now I will sit here and LONG for more. So.. Rayray. THANK YOU FOR BEING ALL "OMG WATCH THIS".

First, Mugi is totally in love with the teacher and probably Mio. The teacher is all sorts of awesome and I'm glad she's borderline crazy. But I think my favorite character is Mio because a) she is freaking adorable... b) um.. more of the same. The show basically REEKS of ~moe~. S'all good. I loooove music anime. (Also I REALLY want that dress Mio wears in the ending song).

*fidgets* Is it next week yet? I need to see if the new FMA ep has been subbed in xvid so I can watch it too!

And here I was going to sit and watch Merlin tonight.. TOMORROW NIGHT I SWEAR IT. *withdrawl*

We had fajitas for dinner tonight. It was Cinco de Mayo, but that was not why we had them. Although it did mean I had to field a concerned call from my mom who was in the supermarket and could not find any tortillas. Also.. all the Mexican stuff was 50% off. *shrug* It was amusing night as my dad made margaritas for him and my mom.. and then spent the rest of the night randomly bursting into the Mexican Hat Dance song.. complete with shuffling around and dancing. Oh my life.

*bounces around*

My brother sent me the following IM last night:
"we have a laser pointer and we were messsing around with drunk poeple pointing it around their feet one kid yells out SNIPER! and starts running away lol"

I think that sums up the extent of Spring Weekend at UCONN. Lots of drunk people. Lots of stupid shenanigans. I need to remember to recommend that he climb the North Parking Garage to look out over the masses and chaos.

Before I left for work I was going to post about how I got my shipping confirmation for the wig I ordered. But then I walked outside to leave and there was my nice package from China containing one wig for me! That was... a lot quicker than I was led to expect. I have Monday off so I think I will take the early afternoon to go to Jo-ann's for the rest of the fabric I need. Pictures of the wig will be... maybe tomorrow, depending on when I'm back from work. The plastic is very crinkly and as it is now just about 2am.. I don't want to be making tons of noise.

OMG FMA. I did my real-time rambling.. but I won't post it tonight. I just need a second to say OMG NINA IS IN THE PREVIEW FOR THIS WEEK AND I AM JUST NOT EMOTIONALLY PREPARED FOR THIS.

Oh a calmer note, signed up for another icon meme.

i can see the world from there

First things first. "Chase the Morning" has me in its hold. I think after a good dozen listens of the whole soundtrack, it might just be my favorite song from the movie.

Tomorrow is my mom's birthday! Present is bought, cake-making is planned. And my sister has a lesson at 8:30 which means I will be present for dinner as it will have to be before then. Good times! Also CAKE.

Last night when I went to bed I was determined to not over-sleep. At 10:45 when my last alarm went off, I was determined to get out of bed and go to work. At 11:37 when the manager called my cell phone to ask if I was ok and going to work.. I was so upset at myself. *hangs head* I was across town in 15 minutes. I'm so glad I'm not working tomorrow... *breathes*

I watched the Half-blood Prince trailer!! *slowpoke.jpg* It was.. visually impressive? I honestly haven't read the books in so long that I can't really compare book vs movie anymore. *woe* It makes me sad to even look at my books since I'd dropped all of them and now half of them just have chunks of pages falling out. And I never did get my copy with the Falmouth bookstore plate back from Pat. So it's all just a sad story. I do think I'd like to re-read at least the 6th and last soon. I am excited about the movie and hoping I can do the midnight showing thing. The logistics are tricky as both my cousin and grandma will be here when it comes out, which means my mom may not let my sister come with me. And... well I don't have anyone else to go to the movies with. xD I am lame.

I bought a pair of light blue/aqua tights for my cosplay. I need to get my ass to Jo-ann's for fabric and possibly a pattern.

these lines of lightning mean we're never alone

I do this thing where I think of everything I want to write about.. and then I blank when I sit down at the laptop. Silly me.

I read this fic a couple days ago that pretty much took me apart and then made it all okay in the end. Again. That seems to be happening a lot. Apparently Superhero!AU is good for that? Who knew.

I spent my day sanding grout from between the tiles in the bathroom. By the end of it I'm sure my lungs were coated in a film of grout powder and Shout stain remover. Also it hurt my arm.

The official letter arrived today! I already accepted the school's offer. Apparently that $5,000 thing they gave me is a university-wide award only given to 25 people. I'm just like.. whoa. Unexpected to the max, I didn't even know it existed.. much less that I nominated for it. Classes start on Sept 9th. Ah I'm getting nervous when I think about it so much.

I decided on what I'd like to make as a second costume. Already ordered the wig. It's really hard to find shoes though.. I might have to alter the design a bit. (Luckily it's something with a not-set design so I can do that and keep the look). There's a second thing I'd like to do though.. and it will require a bit more work. I think I will order a few things for it and see how far I get with the new project and fixing up the Chidori outfit. *nodnod* It'll be fun times.

Next week is the last anime club meeting. I don't know how to feel about that.

Anime Boston pre-reg is paid for. According to the system I am badge number 9600. I approve.

My mom has given me back my sewing machine.. so the time of the sewing must begin. Especially since my aunt and uncle are coming to visit in just a few weeks so I won't be able to madly sew until all hours of the night in the week leading up to AB. Which is lame, but I guess it's for the best?

Things to do:
Buy yards and yards of white fabric.
Rip seams on top from first attempt to make it actually fit me.
Totally remake bolero.
Make headpiece and figure out how to attach the knife thing.
Figure out how to make the anklet spikes in a way that won't stab me.

Totally do-able assuming I start asap. I also need to decide what else I wanna make. I could toy with re-finishing Meilin. I could start whats-her-face from Lucky Star. I could decide on a Pokemon gijinka that won't be too hard (read: not Beedrill because I don't think I want to add "learn how to make craft foam armor" to my list). Regardless I need to decide soon because I will likely need to order another wig for it all to happen.

Also.. mini-ramble about something I've been thinking about regarding fanfic. So I started reading it again.. in the Merlin fandom. Which is ironic because I haven't actually FINISHED the source material. I mean.. I know what happens aside from a few small details that are a bit fuzzy.. but the fact remains that I have not completed watching it. How totally lame is that. Anyway, so I'm reading all this amazing multi-chapter stuff.. and it's freaking PAINFUL how amazing some of it is. *sigh* Like the other day I read Tintagel which played with the idea of what was paid as a result of Arthur's birth.. and the past... and oh my angst it was so good. And seriously there was so much freaking emotion in the words that I couldn't think about it too hard afterwards because it kept making me tear up. Which probably sounds totally deranged BUT I CANT CHANGE IT. *woe* And then tonight I read "We're a Storm in Somebody Else's Teacup"... which is 80,000 WORDS OF DELICIOUS PAIN. Ah god. First of all.. hello word count. And I just got sucked into the story and the feelings... and Morgana was kind of perfect and again I can't think about it too hard without being in awe and pain and glee and everything about it. Which makes no sense too.

Bah.. again I babble. Totally not fair. Srsly.. fanfiction is awful when it's poorly written... but give me something well-written and true to character and I will devour it like nothing else.

Ah fandom...

Mm... so I took my quiz at work today. Need 90% or better. If I don't get it.. one more try to do it. If I don't get it the second time.. no more job. I would be more stressed if I hadn't gone over the whole thing (with answers) right before I took the thing for real. xD Part of me still harbors an irrational feeling of dread that I will fail anyway. So silly of me.

Otherwise all continues well. I have managed to remember a few names and faces. My small talk is getting better. I figure I get through tomorrow (I'm working Friday dinnertime) then all will be well.

Driving Nick up to RI yesterday was ok. The day was pretty shitty, but he paid for my gas and I got Starbucks before we started driving. Had a nice late lunch type thing with him and his girlfriend before I headed home. mhm.

Have realized that a major hurdle to my sewing is that currently my mom has thread and such loaded onto my machine for fixing some things for my sister. And I keep forgetting to ask if I can re-thread it with my own so I can get something done. Buu... Am also now toying with prop-making for srs. Need to make Chidori's ankle.. things... in such a way that the spikes won't impale me when I walk (or other people!) and also in a way where I can remove them. I'm thinking half-circles and velcro right now. We shall see, I have time to play still.

First two days of work have been cool. I need tobuy.. a lot more black shirts. xD It's all I can wear with black pants.. and shoes. Incidentally, I needed black sneaker-y shoes anyway. Training has been kinda a whirl at this point. And gosh table numbering systems are confusing. Monday I took like 3 parties to the wrong table. And today there was one. I am made of so much fail. And then I feel soooo bad. T_T And I have to take this test on Thursday to see if I pass since this is still technically probation. waaah.... And I need to work on my small talk. I feel so lame asking about the weather ALL THE TIME. ughughugh.... this is hard. But I will get through it. ^^ At least everyone I'm working with has been nice. It's a bit intimidating since they all know each other and chat easily. And I'm seriously having issues remembering names half the time. And half the bussers are hispanic of some sort and they all talk to me in Spanish as I'm wandering around. lulz.

Speaking of anime (yknow.. a paragraph ago..), I am torrenting La Corda d'Oro. I saw a screenshot of it and pretty much had a strong craving for music anime. I still need to watch Nodame Paris Chapter, but part of me feels like I'm not ready for that just yet. So perhaps Corda can fill that hole for a bit.

But first I need to watch more Merlin! :o Damnit BBC... damn you and your historically inaccurate but totally addicting shows.

On that note. I DONT KNOW WHERE MY ROBIN HOOD SEASON 1 DVD 1 DISC IS. *CRYYY* I'm pretty sure it got left at Justin and Max's apartment. T_T I want it back.. I need to finish watching the series. And I promised my sister I would watch with her so I need to start at the beginning.. *woe*

...This has totally gone on a weird tangent.

*eyes piles of cosplay supplies in the corner* I wanna work on this stuff tomorrow.. but instead I am driving my brother to Rhode Island so he can see his girlfriend. *sigh* I am totally making him pay for the gas in my empty car... and Starbucks before we leave... and maybe something else. Cuz he owes me big... giving up my day-off to wake up before noon and drive around. bah.

Got my work schedule when I went to fill out paperwork yesterday. I think I might die. First day of actual training/working is a night shift (Monday.. so not as busy.. but also with Spring Break having started... =X). And then I also ended up with Friday night later in the week. And of course all the night shifts are followed by a morning shift the next day. Go figure. If I focus on it too hard I start getting nervous so I'm just going to push through and hope for the best. They hired me for a reason right?

Sadly I also go scheduled for Sunday afternoon.. which means I won't be able to go to the lolita meetup at all. T_T I was hoping they wouldn't, but then they did.. and I can't very well decline when I haven't even really worked there yet!! Hopefully with the way they do schedule requests... things like that will be avoided in the future. *looks sadly at lolita clothing* I wanna dress up and hang out with cool peopleee.... *woe*

Have determined that every other moment I can get, I WILL work on my cosplay. Have the pieces cut out for a shirt I want to make... need to find good substitute for Nia's hoodie.. need to cut pattern and fabric for other coat. Am also thinking a lot about how to fix up my Chidori costume which I will have done for AB. Also looking at wigs again for the next thing I wanna make. Also I looked at the stupid Pokemon gijinka files and now I have a list of like 10 Pokemon that have awesome designs... including one that would let me play with craft form armor construction. I want to get my prop-making up to par. Need to make axe and ankle cuffs for Chidori. Am considering making semi-circles with the spikes and embedding magnets into the edges so that I can re-use them.. but am unsure of the effectiveness of it. Ah planning.. how I love thee.

Also... Phil the DVDs arrived and omg thank you so much. Hopefully you see this. xD We need to hangout sometime so I can pay you for it. *plays happily with light-up core drill*

blind game again

Friday was my last day at work. It was kinda sad. On Thursday we'd all gone out for lunch for Japanese (my pick! yay!) and they all surprised me with cheesecake and a card+gift. I don't know why I didn't cry.. probably because it still hadn't really sunk in what was going on. Then Friday I went in for the last time. Had to run around getting papers signed.. gave public safety my id badge (sadness!).. and then I had the task of cleaning out my drawers. It always amazes me how much STUFF just accumulates when you aren't paying attention. Left behind a pile of papers... burned all my data to cds.. burned a disk of everything I cared about on the Mac. I ended up leaving last at 6:30 and was absurdly emo about it. It's not like I'll never be back... just not the same way I guess. Which reminds me that I need to ask Keith to give my nameplate to my dad.. I wanna hold on to it. T_T

And then I went to Chili's with my mom and sister! Which.. as we would later discover.. may or may not have been the cause of later grief. v_v;; We spent Valentine's Day at the mall looking for a few things. Then we went to Trader Joe's to pick up some dinner. I made dinner... and then both of them promptly got some form of food poisoning.

...It was an AWESOME Valentine's. I guess it's good I was distracted? =X I'm still not sure if it was the Chili's or the frozen foods from TJ's. Could have been either since I didn't eat any of the Chili's shrimp.. and I ate less of the TJ's fried rice shrimp. Mostly since I'm not sure if I'm allergic.

Anyway.. it was great. So now I'm home and grudgingly looking for a part-time job. I hate having to go into stores during normal business and ask if they are hiring. It makes me feel awkward. But I mostly just need to suck it up at this point because I can't stand sitting around feeling useless for very long.

I'm hoping to get some sewing done, but I couldn't today since my mom was here. She was still feeling crummy. And my sister is home all this week too. I kinda just want the house to myself during the days. x_x Then I can really focus without worrying about other people. Cosplay and the like.

Just now a trip through led me to this:
lulz I kinda want it. They sell "fill it yourself" vials too and I think it would be neat to put some totally crazy color in one.. like highlighter ink.

My internet is acting like crap tonight for no reason that I can identify. It's very frustrating...

My wrist, which was starting to heal up and not hurt, appears to have reverted back to ouch-mode.. except this time more. So now I'm back to being super careful with my actions so as not to aggravate it. Back to straining my left wrist I guess!! Yay!

Apparently they are making an Avatar: The Last Airbender movie. It is being directed by M. Night Shamalamadingdong and they are trying to get Jesse McCartney to play Zuko. Amused? Why yes.. yes I am. Maybe someday I will actually watch the show since every seems to eager to fall all over themselves to say how awesome it is.

(Apparently my internets hate me so much that I can't even bring up my playlist on project playlist. No music for me I guess.)

I am suddenly reminded that I need to test my sewing machine.. but it's too late for that now. I will do so on Friday for sure though. :) Once I know it works, I can be a total dork and finally make that Edward Elric inspired coat I've had fabric lying around for years.

Buu I wanna watch more Gurren Lagann.. but episode 15 on the DVD Robin burned me was all skippy and sad. Also, the BSS fansub group makes some.. not so good subs and I need to replace 14 and 15 before we show them at club.

Yea.. back to applications.

edit: Both this and my last entry have resulted in getting a Coho-bot IM. I am disappointed that whoever has been on the other side hasn't tried to start a conversation.
